Volunteering Opportunities

Where Connection Leads the Way

At Stable Ground Institute, connection is at the heart of everything we do: connection to ourselves, to one another, to horses, and to nature. Through equine-assisted learning, nature-based experiences, and community programs, we create opportunities for people to build self-awareness, strengthen relationships, develop leadership skills, and experience the healing power of connection.

Our volunteers make this possible.

When you volunteer with us, you help care for the horses, steward the land, support our programs, and create the environment where meaningful connections can flourish.

What Volunteering at Stable Ground Institute looks like.

Volunteering at Stable Ground Institute is more than lending a helping hand. It means becoming part of a community built on connection, respect, and learning.

All volunteers receive an introduction to our trauma-informed approach, learning how to create environments rooted in safety, trust, and choice. Whether supporting programs, welcoming families, or caring for our property, every volunteer plays an important role in creating a positive experience.

Our approach extends to our horses. As a ground-based program, we do not ride.

Instead, our horses are respected as willing partners in learning and handled through low-pressure, relationship-centered methods that honor their natural behavior and well-being.

Volunteering is an opportunity to support a place where people, horses, and nature can thrive together.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Moments of insight as participants learn from the wisdom of horses.

Healthy, well-cared-for horses who serve as partners in learning.

Spaces of presence and calm where people can slow down, reflect, and reconnect.

Conservation and learning spaces that connect people to nature.

Programs that strengthen communication, confidence, relationships, and leadership.

A welcoming community where authenticity, belonging, and growth are valued.

Whatever your talent or interest, we can find something you might like to do to assist us.

The only request we have of all our volunteers is:
  • You bring a spirit of curiosity

  • Respect the horses and their natural communication

  • A respect for the land, conservation, and nature.

  • A commitment to creating a welcoming, safe environment

  • You are reliable, compassionate, and present when you are with us.
